Winchester's Song

I've recently noticed that Winchester responds when I
whistle the song Beautiful Dreamer.  So I wrote him some lyrics to go with the tune:

Winchester Feline

     Black and white cat,

Playful yet moody

    A bit of a brat.

  Winchester Feline

    Having a lark,
            Nap time
 and playtime
 and walks after dark.
 Box of Rebellion

There on the floor.
 Mimz in the food bowl,
 Meow at the door.
 Winchester Feline      Gallop-y cat
Momma still loves you wherever you're at.
 Momma still loves
you my Winchester Cat.

Mom's Trip

I left my poor Winchester for an entire week!

It was a three part trip.

First I went to the Oregon coast...

with the Teenagers...

Nice Boy on the left.

Then my husband and I drove down to Southern California.

That took way too long!

But it was for my nephew's wedding!

I don't really enjoy the L.A. area,
so we were happy to drive out of L.A. to visit family.

I enjoyed time with my Mom's cat, Duchess.

She was born from a feral litter and has always
been an avid huntress.

Now she is 16 years old, and the last of my
parents 3 cats still alive.

Not bad for a mostly outdoor cat!

She has become quite affectionate since the loss of her sister,
Jelly Bean, and her housemate, Gus.

We stayed with my aunt and uncle and got to
know their sweet kitty, Millie.

We also spent time at the California coast.

So much warmer than Oregon!

And finally the long drive home...

I'm so happy to be home with Winchester!
We missed him so much!

Two blog posts later, and he's still in my lap!

Entry 3: Hissy Fit, Behind the Scenes

Sunday, as you may have read, Winchester had a hissy fit.
Mom, that's me, Daddy, Auntie and Uncle left Winchester on a hot September 1st
and went to the river that runs through our town.

River temperature on September 1st...
about 56°F/13°C.

It's common practice in town to float down the river on inner tubes,
or some sort of inflatable device.
Daddy and Auntie do this.
Mom and Uncle are a bit water crazy and actually swim the river.
We dive down and find random things that have been lost in the river.

Whenever Winchester says that something smells like the river...

It's usually because it's something we've found at the bottom of the river.
People drop all kinds of stuff!

Sunday, however, Uncle was the victim.
He lost his one and only car key.
(He's usually exceedingly careful about this)
So, after much searching, including a jump back in the river right before sunset,
we came up empty handed.
So, dear Winchester, we were gone much longer than we had planned.
Not to mention getting a tad hypothermic.
So, yes, we went in the hot tub.
Auntie was happy to try to take care of Winchester while Uncle and I thawed out
and Daddy went to get food.
She does not tolerate hissing.  It freaks her out a bit.
Winchester was inconsolable.
He wasn't going to accept kindness from anyone that day.

Also, in all his pouting, Winchester forgot to mention.
Saturday night Mom was so proud of him!
She saw a spider run under her bed!

Who can sleep knowing that's under there?
Winchester crawled under the bed and killed it.
He usually eats bugs, but that one he left.
I was able to know for certain that the spider had been killed.
Good boy, Winchester!

Stand proud!

Entry 2: The Truth

So here's the truth of photographing Winchester Feline:

Maybe I can use this one..

Nope.

Nope.

Yes!

Nope.

Nope.

Nope.

Oh! Winchester's tearing around the house being hyper and very cute!
I'll set up the camera while he's in the other room and let it run so when he comes
back I'll catch him in the act!

Winchester:  Hmmm...Mom's filming. Better not do anything cute.

Sigh.
